2018 St John’s Anglican Church Annual Fete and Pet Show
Every year the Flinders community looks forward to the St John’s Church Fete and Pet Show. January 20th 2018 did not disappoint.
The weather was absolutely perfect and as usual a happy and fun atmosphere prevailed.
The hall was packed with produce from jams and relish to cakes and scones and other beautiful hand made goods. The Devonshire Tea volunteers coped well with their usual roaring trade. The book stall was huge – donations to this were so generous that organisers had to put a stop to contributions a few days prior to the event! And the White Elephant – an array of trash and treasure like you’ve never seen – some real bargains to be had
The Pet Show was great fun – organised chaos as usual – the looks on the faces of the kids and their pets are always worth seeing. Sponsors were extremely generous and prizes were fabulous.
Crowds were larger than ever this year and a record amount of over $31,500 was raised– this is the major fund raiser of the year for the church and all funds go maintenance of the 125 year old building, which requires constant care.
Organiser Barbara Richards expressed her thanks to everyone who helped, not just for the day but ‘for the weeks when you have collected, sorted, priced, discarded, baked, made etc etc’. Everything runs so well on the day it is easy for us to forget how much goes into its organisation.
We’re already looking forward to next year…
