A GREAT NIGHT AT THE 2018 FCA DINNER
A highlight of the Flinders Community Association dinner at the Flinders Golf Club was an interview conducted by MC Ranald Macdonald with members of the Inge family. This was the 7th annual FCA Dinner, attended by around 140 members and their guests who enjoyed a gourmet dinner served up by the ever-professional Golf Club staff.
Zig Inge and his brother were post war immigrants from Latvia. They arrived by ship, and, as assisted migrants they were required to work for two years wherever they were sent. The audience listened with great interest as Zig described his job on the railways, jogging down the railway line to open the crossing gates at Lilydale before the first train arrived. Zig’s son Peter Inge talked about the family business building retirement villages; followed by his dietician sister Karen discussing her work in sports nutrition, and with the Australian Ballet.
Retiring Committee members Pam Commons, Graham Lewis and Ranald Macdonald were warmly acknowledged for their long-term contribution to the FCA.
