St John’s Anglican Church

The Anglican parish of Flinders with Balnarring

St. John’s Flinders – King Street, Flinders
St. Mark’s Balnarring – 1 Balnarring Road, Balnarring

The Anglican Parish of Flinders with Balnarring covers a large geographical area, including Flinders and surrounding districts, and the many small hamlets up the Peninsula on the Westernport side including Shoreham, Point Leo, Merricks and Merricks Beach, Somers, parts of Bittern and Crib Point, Balnarring Beach and Balnarring – until it reaches its border with the Hastings Parish at Bittern.

We have two very beautiful churches: St. John the Evangelist, Flinders, and St. Mark’s Balnarring.

“The Church of St John-the-Evangelist, Flinders was dedicated on 28 January 1892. The building was designed by architect William Barker and was constructed in brick in the Gothic style. The original building consisted of nave of four bays, western porch and a small sanctuary. On 11 June 1935, major additions to the church were dedicated. These consisted of transepts, sanctuary and vestry, all designed by architect George Smith. “
