In Celebration of Flinders Golf Club – 120 Years of Stunning Coastal Golf 1903 – 2023.
This is the 120th anniversary as we look back on the progress made since its humble beginnings.
The course began as 4 holes carved out of the coastal scrub by visiting telegraphic workers (many of whom were Scots).Jam jars were used for the holes. Then, by chance, David Maxwell (also a Scot) came to Flinders on a business mission and was captivated by the landscape and the potential for a fully fledged golf course. Within a very few years David & his friend from Royal Melbourne GC, James Barrett, had created an 18-hole course.
