Flinders Yacht Club

The foundation of Flinders Yacht Club is owed to a small group of people who met during 1976 to form a sailing club. On 27 October 1976, 37 people interested in forming a club to ‘foster interest in boating in Flinders’ met in the recreation room of the old Flinders Caravan Park and founded the Flinders Yacht Club. Today it is a thriving sailing club of members interested in sailing. It has a growing membership of families and social members who not only enjoy sailing but the camaraderie of great sailing, a fantastic location on the beach and a fun social program. Each year they run a sailing school for kids, teenagers and adults. This is followed by the kid’s party, which includes a now well-known ice-cream eating competition! The club is run by an active committee of sailors and there is also a junior committee who make sure that events are always inclusive of kid’s activities and fun! Competitive yacht races are programmed throughout the summer up until Easter and the club also is available for hire for weddings, birthday parties and other special occasions. Local associations use the club for meetings and other local events. All events and other details can be found on the website! flindersyc.com.au
