A TIMELY MESSAGE TO THE RESIDENTS OF FLINDERS FROM FLINDERS CFA

Warmer weather and drying winds are on their way! Some areas of the state have already declared that fire restrictions are in place.

IT’S TIME TO START PREPARING YOUR PROPERTY FOR THE COMING FIRE SEASON

Make the most of the Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Free Green Waste Weekend 23 – 25 October and for those who are eligible to do so, conduct an open air burn off before the fire restriction period begins.

REMEMBER, you must register your burnoff and meet the provisions of the Mornington Peninsula Shire Open Air Burning Local Law.  See https://www.mornpen.vic.gov.au/My-property/Fire-and-emergency/Fire-management/Open-air-burning

      • The quickest and easiest way to register your burn off is online on the website. https://firepermits.vic.gov.au
      • This is the best option if your burn off commences more than two hours from now.
      • If you wish to start your burn-off immediately, register your burn-off by calling 1800 668 511, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
      • Please provide the following information about your burn-off when registering:
      • Location
      • Date and expected start and finish times
      • Estimated size
      • What you intend to burn

Please remember that emergency 000 calls will always take priority.

Registering online is the fastest and simplest option.

While you’re busy at your place, the Flinders CFA is busy too, maintaining our firefighting skills and equipment to be ready when needed. We have recently commenced a review of all the fire hydrants in Flinders so you’ll see us out and about.

**We will inform you of the date when Fire Restriction period commences for FLINDERS (Mornington Peninsula Shire) as soon as we know.

Let us know if you have any concerns.
