The Flinders Community Association is appalled at the lack of respect shown to the Flinders community. It is extraordinary that Parks Victoria stop work on the reparation of the Heritage listed Finders Pier without any consultation or notification until an unsigned generic email from Parks Victoria this afternoon. It is understood that, when almost complete, funds are now unavailable to finish the restoration project.
The FCA, alongside our fearless campaigner, Charles Reis OAM, fought for over 5 years for its repair on behalf of the community. How can the government leave a job unfinished and leave a coastline and historic tourist facility in desperate need of a clean-up.
The FCA President Maxine Cooper calls for an urgent in-person meeting with Minister Mellisa Horne to explain the reasons for this appalling decision and to outline what plans the Government have to remediate the ugly outcome resulting to this Heritage listed public asset.
