After a wonderful summer holiday season, we have been advised by the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council that the Flinders Civic Hall will not be ready until late March due to ‘project completion delays’. As a result, we are extremely disappointed that we will not be able to host our 2024 AGM in the new Flinders Civic Hall.
This disappointment extends to other community programs supported by the FCA. The Flinders Fringe Festival has had to change many arrangements at very short notice, and the Flinders Community Art Show has had to be postponed to the November Cup Day weekend.
All community groups, both not-for-profit and commercial, hoping to utilise the Hall’s beautiful new facilities have had to make alternative arrangements. As you can imagine, so many of our wonderful volunteers are also disappointed, but the completion of the Flinders Hall is totally out of the Community’s control.
Please see the details attached of the AGM together with associated documents. You can see these by clicking on the links. If you are unable to attend, please kindly let us know by email at: info@flindersvillage.com.au or call us – Mary Iles (0418 358 587) or Naomi Murray (0409 130 553). MORNING TEA WILL BE SERVED
We have had a very busy year with numerous challenges and our Committee will take you on a tour of our adventures at the AGM. We encourage you to come and participate.
Please consider becoming a committee member or volunteer to a sub-committee. We need some specific skills such as town planning, traffic and transport engineering, public relations, newsletter writing, environmental science, event management and any level of government lobbying. We also need volunteers with experience in IT and communications. You may be able to offer such a skill in a subcommittee capacity. But most of all, if you love our Village and wish to protect its heritage, environment, coastal habitat, and village ambience please join us … FLINDERS VILLAGE NEEDS YOU!
The FCA AGM will be held on Sunday 24th March 2024 at 10.30 for 11 am at the Flinders Yacht Club. (Drive to the end of the Pier car park and through the gate to the Yacht Club. Please park close to the Clubhouse and do NOT park near the boat compound fence or block sailors from access to the compound) Note – YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED A PARKING FEE.
Members who have yet to pay their 2023/4 membership subscription will be given the opportunity to do so on arrival at the meeting.
Nomination forms for people wishing to stand as office bearers or committee members must be in the hands of the secretary (PO Box 228 Flinders 3929) one week before the meeting. (17 March).
