This year, 2023, is the year our government has committed to giving our First Nations people a Voice and the Flinders Community Association is hosting a training and information workshop to help develop our community’s understanding of indigenous heritage.
The workshop will be held on Monday 20 February 2023, between 6.00pm and 8.00pm, at the St Johns Church Hall. Tea and coffee will be provided.
The cultural education program will be delivered by the Koorie Heritage Trust. The Koorie Heritage Trust was established in 1985 by Ron Merkel QC, the late Ron Castan AM QC and a respected Koorie elder with a commitment to protect, preserve and promote the living culture of the Aboriginal people of south-eastern Australia.
See their website for further information https://koorieheritagetrust.com.au/about-us/history/
The workshop is suitable for those interested in growing their understanding of Australia’s indigenous history and the Voice to Parliament or who those who participate in activities and events or operate a business on the traditional land of the Bunurong People.
This workshop is highly recommended for local residents and community groups; students, educators or people involved in education; employees and businesses, volunteer organisations and those businesses who deal with visitors to the Mornington Peninsula.
