We congratulate Charles Reis on his Australia Day award given by Mornington Peninsula Shire Council as 2023 Local Champion. The award is for successfully leading a State-wide campaign to save the historic Flinders Pier. Charles was the untiring Chair of SFP who took us all on an exciting journey and tirelessly led us to Save Flinders Pier. Our committee, the Flinders District Historical Society and members of the public sent in lengthy submissions to Heritage Victoria and we then won the reprieve we all wanted.
