The Fire Danger Period for our area has been declared as commencing on January 30th.
While the fire risk currently looks pretty low, the risk of serious grass fires will rise rapidly as this warm weather continues to dry out all that lush growth that has the farmers smiling. Certainly with the mooted change next month towards an “El Nino” system the fire risk in late 2023 will be significant.The local CFA is holding a public meeting on Sunday the 29th of January to explain what that declaration means to locals, and to provide information on how to plan and prepare for bush or grass fires in our community. It will only last for an hour so please try and find the time to attend. No need to RSVP !
