The latest news regarding the proposed redevelopment of the Flinders Hall is that the Hall will remain on its current site. The concept plan for the Hall will be further refined during the detailed design process.
Council received 90 responses in response to the Online Community Survey Questionnaire.
The responses made it clear that no additional development of open space should be considered, other than the provision of public toilets at the Park (which are currently in the planning and design phase).
The letter from Council circulated to respondents included the following:
“Services & Activities:
Key themes and messages identified through the Have Your Say and Questionnaires were:
- Community Activities – consistent with those offered at Neighbourhood Houses & Community Centres e.g. Arts & Crafts/ Painting;
- Group Fitness & Exercise;
- Performances e.g. Plays, Concerts;
- Exhibitions;
- The poor condition of the Hall was acknowledged by both current users and those who would like to but choose not to use the hall, confirming that it is no longer fit for purpose.”
