The Victorian Government has announced plans to demolish 180 metres of the Flinders Pier. The timber pier, dating back to 1864, is Heritage Listed and the last all-timber pier on Western Port Bay.
The timber pier is home to the endangered weedy sea dragon, attracting divers and researchers from all over the world.
Instead of demolishing the pier, Parks Victoria needs to invest in its preservation and make it safe for the continued enjoyment of all Victorians.
