To celebrate its 60th Anniversary, LCDR Peter Arnold OAM, Commander of the West Head Naval Gunnery School has invited the Flinders community to an Open Day and tour of operations on Tuesday 12 March 2019.
The Gunnery has made available 50 places for locals and guests to visit the Gunnery; see Navy personnel firing the big guns; and learn about the other training activities that occur at West Head.
A modest charge of $10.00 per person will apply, with all proceeds going to the FCA.
Please note that visitors need to be at the main gate by 1.00 pm with photo identificaiton where security will check you in and direct cars up to the lower car park. As well as a tour of the operation, attendees will have the opportunity to witness a gun-firing training session (weather permitting). The Open Day includes afternoon tea and will finish at about 3.30pm.
