Vale David Jarman, Christie Johnstone, Nancy Stephens and Pauline Buchan

Flinders, over the last few weeks, has lost a number of its icons:

Christie Johnstone just short of his 100th birthday. A genial man and great source of knowledge to farming types, especially in the Musk Creek Road region. Sadly we will not see that battered hat and chugging red tractor any more.

David Jarman, someone who made a great contribution to the Flinders Community Association over many years, pretty much since its inception, as well as to Council. That bowler hat and waistcoat will be missing from the St Johns Fete.

And Nancy Stephens, another who made a great contribution to the governance of the town and shire. I always remember Nancy and her happy band of pre-schoolers with drum ratatatt tatting as we all marched up to the monument on ANZAC day in a time when we were allowed to march.

And Pauline Buchan (formerly Oswald-Jacobs), a lovely, gracious woman who for many years, was a pillar of the Flinders Op Shop.
