3 Garden Walk – Sunday 26th January 2020 10:00pm – 4:00pm (King Street, Flinders)

Garden 1 Joan Lawson’s “Pine Tree” is a country garden designed to complement the rural location. This garden was specifically designed by Paul Laycock to enhance the architect’s concept; hence the axis of the main house becomes the main axis of the garden. Originally, in 1985, the garden was designed around the main house with the orchard. The garden was extended as it is today adding stone walls, rose garden, the paths and additional flower beds. The garden became the central focus of vision as the rural views were increasingly encroached upon.

Garden 2 Faye Gerdsen’s “Papillon” is a one-acre garden, perimeter trees planted in 1998 and landscaping begun in 1999. This an eclectic collection of plants with an emphasis on finding suitable plants for different micro climates. There are many different views between plants to other areas of garden which include some rare and unusual plants.

Garden 3 Sue Gray’s one-acre garden begun 20 years ago and has a large diversity of native plants from all over Australia. This garden proves that all native gardens do not have to be colourless. Planted to attract wildlife of all types, Swift and Turquoise Parrots have been seen, and includes a frog pond with Pobble Bonk and Brown Tree frogs.

All proceeds will be donated to BlazeAid to restore fencing: Donation $15.00 per person – includes light refreshments.

BlazeAid is a volunteer-based organisation that works with families and individuals in rural Australia after natural disasters such as fires and floods. Working alongside the rural families, our volunteers help to rebuild fences and other structures that have been damaged or destroyed.

Equally important, volunteers also help to lift the spirits of people who are often facing their second or third flood event after years of drought, or devastating losses through bushfires. BlazeAid volunteers work in a disaster-affected area for many months, not only helping individuals and families, but also helping rebuild the local communities.
